Education:

PhD (Medical University of Vienna, PhD Supervisor: Dieter Blaas)

M.Sc. (Department of Biochemistry, University of Hyderabad)

B.Sc. (Department of Science, University of Allahabad)

N-PDF SERB Fellow

Research interests:

As a structural biologist, I'm interested in studying the transient structural intermediates of infectious viruses i.e. chikungunya virus, using cryo-electron microscopy as a major tool. As seen in case of Poliovirus and Influenza virus, chemical compounds such as WIN and Adamantanes bind with the native capsid and M2 fusion protein and inhibits conformational changes that ultimately inhibits infection, it is extremely important to study chikungunya virus and mainly their disassembly intermediates to understand the crucial events that are major roadblocks of alphavirus infection and finally help to design a drug or an antiviral agent that can block infection of these viruses.

Specialization:

Cryo-electron microscopy.

Hobbies:

Playing guitar and cooking.
